Something has gone wrong in the little mountain town of Caerleon, Massachusetts. The fabric of reality has bent back upon itself. Visions are seen. People vanish, events precede their causes, and a strange aura of fatalism clings to certain of the residents. Lovecraft-inspired but not a pastiche or a mythos story, this novel-length work of cosmic horror spurns more pernicious Lovecraftian tropes of miscegenation and otherness, instead exploring themes of the fundamental incomprehensibility of the universe and our place within it, plumbing the most abyssal mysteries of physics, language and logic to call into question the very nature of meaning itself, while touching on motifs of mimetic peril and forbidden texts that will be familiar to devotees of the genre. Horror Of Caerleon is a cryptic and chimerical work of literary sci-fi which employs the conventions of weird fiction to portray the plight of characters locked in a nightmare of their own making, an all-encompassing vision of a universe of mind. It's a book about connections; a Borgesian curiosity, a recursive abstraction, an atmospheric, self-referential tone poem; a philosophical, metaphysical meditation on language, consciousness, free will, and the nature of reality.
