Fleeing from the witch trials in Salem, Terra Rowan finds herself in modern day Asheville, North Carolina. A dark spirit from the past hunts the last witch of Salem. With the help of the ladies of the Biltmore Society, Asheville aristocrats with untapped powers and a crooked-legged fat orange cat named Pixel, Terra must discover the secret within the forest to preserve the bloodline. Combining elements from different cultures, Appalachian folklore, Celtic legends, Native American mysticism, Bloodline creates a new witch mythology while staying true to the realm of cozy mystery. Terra Rowan is a witch trapped between worlds and lost in time.

About the Author

After visiting Asheville, North Carolina, Vicki Vass found herself transfixed by the magic that surrounded this beautiful mountain town. She knew she wanted to capture that magic in her new Witch Cat Mystery Series and live there so she bought a lot. Bloodline is the first novel in that series. An avid reader, Vicki researched Appalachian folklore, Celtic legends and the Biltmore Estate. All these play a role in Bloodline. When she's not reading, she can be found scouting bargains at antique stores, flea markets and garage sales much like Anne Hillstrom, the heroine of her Antique Hunters mystery series. The first book in the series, Murder for Sale, was a finalist in the Mystery & Mayhem contest. She enjoys walking her two Australian shepherd puppies, red-tri Atticus and red merle Tracker. Her beloved kittens, Pixel and Terra, who helped write Bloodline are always curled up around her laptop, offering advice. Zinnias, roses and butterfly bushes bloom in the summer in her Chicago home. She's never far from a can of Diet Coke. Vicki has written more than 1,400 stories for the Chicago Tribune as well as other commercial publications including Home & Away, the Lutheran and Woman's World. Her science fiction novel, Eleven: 1, draws on her experience in Sudan while writing about the ongoing civil war for World Relief. She lives in Chicago and Asheville with her husband, writer and musician Brian Tedeschi, son Tony, dogs, cats, seven koi and Gary the turtle.
