A fiction story about Camellia, or Coco, as her family and close friends used to call her. She had been suffering from chronic depression since she married Shawkat thirty-five years ago. They spent their honeymoon in Seychelles, where they bought a Coco de Mer seed as a souvenir. That seed was unlike any other; it came from special trees that held spiritual value for a kingdom of unseen creatures. The master of the kingdom appointed a keeper for each of these unique seeds, tasked with remaining with it wherever it went and protecting it from danger or misuse. Mer was the keeper of the seed that Shawkat and Camellia had bought. He fell in love with Camellia the moment he saw her during her honeymoon. However, the rules of his kingdom forbade falling in love with a human. Mer first appeared to Camellia as one of the hotel staff in Seychelles when she was nineteen years old. He gifted her a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the hotel. This appearance was also against the laws of his kingdom, which allowed such acts only for justifiable reasons—not for love, which was considered an evil. By committing these two transgressions—falling in love with Camellia and appearing to her—Mer lost some of his powers.Mer was perpetually sad and suffered alongside Camellia, feeling her pain deeply. For reasons unknown, he couldn’t help her directly, but he could help Shawkat. Shawkat had been suffering from short-term memory loss, which affected Camellia and contributed to her unhappiness. Mer intervened to heal Shawkat, hoping it would ease Camellia’s suffering. When Shawkat and Camellia returned to Seychelles thirty-five years later, Mer and his grandmother appeared to them as vendors of natural herbs. Mer’s grandmother prepared a special recipe for Shawkat, which healed him and restored his full memory. However, this recipe became the catalyst for a series of shocking and unexpected events that dramatically altered the course of all their lives.
