In the not too distant future, the World Federation has taken the entire world under the leadership of El' Bailey. The nations are promised the coveted inoculation, the Tree of Life, which gives youth and long life for all those who take the mark. Citizens who will not surrender their body and soul to the Federation are forced to live in The Barren, a once-fertile place now turned into a wasteland in order to control food supplies. Living in the Barren has its challenges when innocent people fall prey to unscrupulous men who take women and children for human trafficking. Brad English and his wife, Kat, escape the Tree City, Lexington, Kentucky but soon find themselves running for their lives as the Federation tries to draw a net around the Barren. Trying to find a place to survive in the Barren proves to be as difficult as surviving in the city. Those who cannot escape the Federation are thrown into prison for elimination. Only the strong survive by becoming "Tenders," men and women who fight to the death for sport. Brayden Richards has become the favored Tender in the notorious games, but there is a new twist to this new sport. The Federation has upped the ante by creating human genomes, genetically altered super beings to fight the Tenders, and they don't have much to lose. Can the world be saved from evil men who hate God and anyone who follows him? Is there no hope for the future of mankind? You won't want to put this one down.
