I Killed a Bunch of Folks

Theo is a small-town Idaho kid who guards his secrets even closer than he guards his smile. However, when he kills his girlfriend and is sent to prison, he begins recounting his strange life into a tape recorder. Parent killer, mountain hermit, car thief, priest, fifteen year old mass murderer. You'd be surprised at what you can get away with as long as you keep your mouth shut.

From the Publisher

This is a controversial, thoughtful and oddly humorous horror story about a boy who is both victim and psychopath. More than a laundry list of murders, this insightful work explores teen isolation, Mormon religion, the celebrity of criminals, and the nature of life itself. Be advised that this book features some brutally violent sequences and is not suitable for children.

I killed a bunch of folks. There. I said it. First words I ever put in this tape recorder, and I go and blurt out the one big thing I ve always kept under wraps. Maybe I shouldn t have said it. I killed a lot of folks, and if the truth all comes out, well, it s pretty crazy. I got a fierce ball of maggots squirming in my gut. It started in me back in Idaho where I grew up, but since I moved down here it s gotten bigger and meaner. Ain t no fifteen year old supposed to have what I got, or done what I done. The most important trick I learned about killing is something I read once on the inside of a book cover. The book was called "Success!" and I figured that seemed like a good thing to have so I gave it a quick look. The first sentence of the book was "Success comes to those who are willing to do what others aren't willing to do." That one sentence filled my head with so much stuff that I never got around to reading the rest of it. I seen a newspaper or two where they talked about what I done, and the word "success" ain't yet come up. But you got to admit, I'm a pretty successful killer. I guess I m going to get in trouble when all this comes out, or however much I decide to let folks in on. They say that the truth will set you free. Something tells me it won t.
