Jojin is a forest troll who’s been cursed by a mage never to feel replete again. So he goes about his days, moving through the forest, hunting down game and edibles. But no matter how much he eats, the hunger never leaves. Henrietta is a witch who had to flee from her coven not to get stripped of her powers. She’s been deemed dangerous by her sisters for not being able to control her magic. Leaving by night, Henrietta ends up in a small village called Bleakwater. That’s where she hears about some troll that’s been killing the residents’ cattle, with some of those people even being reported missing. Henrietta takes it upon herself to find the monster and stop it. When the troll and the witch inevitably meet and fight, nothing works for Henrietta. Due to his nature, Jojin absorbs every spell she sends his way. She’s about to taste defeat when, in a last desperate attempt, she casts the only spell she can still think of. Turns out that’s a support spell designed to momentarily increase one’s intelligence and empathy. As he did before, Jojin absorbs and integrates that spell. And what should have been but a temporary boost to his intellect changes him deeply. Jojin’s primitive mind awakens, and he starts to question his true nature. With the tension defused by that turn of event, the troll and the witch talk it out and ultimately make a pact. Jojin will help her prove her worth. In exchange, she will help him find food. These are their adventures.
