Jack Cohen is still recovering from his brief encounter with the Shadow Man from Maple Square as the new semester at Para-Northern Conservatory begins. He meets a new professor, and a new voice inside his head. One that seems to be talking directly to him, while vehemently denying responsibility for all the weirdness going on inside Jack’s new apartment. So if the mystery voice isn’t the one haunting the place, who or what is? Jack’s imagination would leave him to believe that the Shadow Man has returned, or could it be something more innocent? And why is it that Jack always gets stuck with the crazy landlords? Allen Kirkham seems to be skulking around the building, trash-talking Harvey Stevens, his business partner, and in general, making everyone uncomfortable. At least his new upstairs neighbors are interesting, if not a bit misguided about the spirit world. Or does Deb Fontana’s lack of knowledge present a hidden danger to everyone in the building? With Grandma Rosa out of the country, Jack must rely on himself and his best friend, Wendy Hasty, to help him figure out the mystery of 79 School Street, save the building (and perhaps a ghost,) all while navigating the tricky waters of dating Kate Stevens.
