Divine: Tower of Expurgation

Upon returning to the Living World from his harrowing trek through the Inferno, Nathanael finds himself a viral celebrity, having published the story of his journey and found the fame and fortune he sought. Despite his newfound glory, he starts to have second thoughts and devises a plan to force Lucifer to relinquish ownership of his soul. After all, having seen what will come of him upon his death is very convincing motivation. He intends to ask God to reverse his hasty decision.His first step in doing this is finding a means of getting to Paradise. He finds a monastery in the outskirts of the city, where a monk with a mysterious past helps him to summon Zeffar, a shifty and unscrupulous Fallen Angel. Zeffar agrees to help Nathanael, but at the price of his fortune, which would leave Nathanael without a soul and nothing to show for it. Reluctantly, he agrees.The first step in this new mission is to make it through Tower of Expurgation, where Watchman Angels preside of the rehabilitation of impure souls too clean for the Inferno, but too dingy for Paradise. Turbulent histories between each Watchman and Zeffar come to light as they progress, as do Zeffar's nefarious motivations.Meanwhile, in the Inferno, Lucifer comes to discover that Nathanael is on his way to Paradise to divulge all of what he had agreed to do. He and Collin scramble through the Realms to enlist the help of the Archfiends and assemble a defense for what will come as a result of Nathanael’s change of heart. Armageddon is a distinct likelihood. Tower of Expurgation is packed with tangled schemes and is brimming with tension and suspense. Twisted punishments, deep history and lore, and interconnected backstories abound in this second installment to The Divine Saga.
