Book Three of the Robert Benoit series begins on Halloween night, a lighthearted occasion that somehow ends on a darker note: Bobby decides he cannot allow his mate, Felicia de la Rosa, to promise their firstborn child to her vampire master. Benoit is there to lend a helping hand, and together he and Kim are able to guide Dani through this difficult time. Yet Benoit is also struggling. Single again and unbearably lonely, he attempts to begin an affair with Kim. But the ordeal with Alexandru has left her with deep emotional scars. And complicating everything is a new threat to the local vampire community – a legendary slayer named Quarrel has come to town, and he’s killing every vampire he comes across, whether they’re evil or not.
