About the Author

M.Lee Buompensiero is a third generation San Diegan and supports the writing arts through her work as member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Writers/Editors Guild.She is the managing editor of the annual anthology, The Guilded Pen, a collection of short stories, essays and poetry by its members. In 2016, Buompensiero established Grey Castle Publishing to promote local authors. Sumerland was inspired by a truestory, childhood events, and the oral history handed down from Buompensiero'sgrandmother. "Grandmother's past was shrouded in secrets and shadows,"Buompensiero says. "Her estrangement from her husband resulted in a family split that lasted for generations.
