From the Inside Flap
About Future BooksThe Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Northern Italy has a rich blend of cultures and religious faiths. Because of its blend of cultures, it was home to some of the most interesting mythical creatures from the Middle Ages to earlier in the fourteenth century, including -- but not limited to -- elves (Sanguanelo), mountain dragons (Tatzelwurm), witches (Smara, Befana), human-faced squirrels (Squascs), sea monsters (Lariosauro), a legendary goat (Dahu), and werewolves (Lupo Mannaro). Many of these mythical creatures, which still exist today, were pushed out of Italy because things that go bump in the night did not fit in well with the doctrine of the Catholic Church. These monsters, once hidden, are now in plain sight and George and Saga will have many encounters with these mythical creatures and de novo monsters invented by the author in future books.
