The Ghost of Aloha Tower

A former child prodigy concert pianist, Mina always thought of music as both her savior and a curse. Met with an untimely death, she finds herself trapped between this world and the next, unable to move on for reasons she cannot understand. Then one day she discovers a boy living in what was once her childhood home.She watches from a distance, becoming drawn to the boy and his musical aunt who seem to host a steady stream of musicians and recitals in her home. With the sudden death of his parents he becomes aware of her presence, and the two develop a relationship, finding comfort in each other's company and their mutual love of music.Set against the backdrop of the Hawaiian Islands with their rich history and legends, the two help and sometimes hinder one another on a parallel journey to uncover the secrets of their past. Together, they also discover that music not only has the power to bind the living and the dead, but the power to heal and free us as well.

About the Author

Born and raised in Honolulu, Marisa Dewa is a graduate of Punahou School.  As a former piano student of the late Ellen Masaki, she has performed as a soloist in both Youth and Community Concerts with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, including a Starlight Concert at the Waikiki Shell. Marisa also holds a Bachelor's degree in History and Piano Performance from Oberlin College/Conservatory and a Master's in Architecture from SCI_Arc. She now lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband and son.  The Ghost of Aloha Tower is her first novel.
