In "In the Shadow of the Light", a paranormal investigator spends the night on Ledge Lighthouse, a mile out to sea off New London, Connecticut. The investigator goes mad. Years later, a writer discovers his field kit, with a notebook, strange photographs, and a chilling recording of the night. The writer decides to unravel the mystery of what really happened. Did the investigator encounter the ghost of “Ernie,” who legend says haunts the lighthouse? Or did he succumb to the fear created by demons of his own design? To find out, the writer explores the story and spends a night alone on the lighthouse, where the shadows hold secrets. This journey into the darkest realms of the paranormal, the human mind, and the lighthouse itself is one where darkness is a character and the past haunts the present. Whether what happens to the two men during their nights on Ledge Lighthouse is the work of the ghost of Ernie and other shadowy apparitions, or simply their own imaginations and fears running wild is, ultimately, up to the reader to decide."In the Shadow of the Light" was written by Todd Gipstein, who spent a decade as president of the New London Ledge Lighthouse Foundation an all-volunteer non-profit charged with stewardship of the abandoned lighthouse. He and his wife, Marcia, spearheaded restoration projects, created a museum inside the lighthouse, led public tours, and devoted themselves to preserving the lighthouse and telling its story.
