They began when the world remained shrouded in shadow and mankind had not yet evolved into being. The first of their kind, a male and a female, happened to find one another amidst the barren landscape and forged a home high in the mountains. That home became known as Ovalry, a lavish temple, the Eden of the bersai. They lived peacefully in their oasis, thriving and developing a culture and language all their own for centuries. Until the humans came. Ovalry was destroyed not long after the introduction of the human race. One of the lovers became disfigured, stripped of his wings, while the other chose to fall dormant beneath Ovalry’s rubble to pass the years and protect their secrets – hoping all the while that her love would one day return to her. Present day finds Ovalry completely lost – forgotten by humans and modern bersai alike. Many who hear tales of the paradise regard it as myth but a human named Johnson is destined to uncover the truth when he’s sent to deliver a relic to a bersai known simply as the historian.
