In Lineage, life is no game! The Elite rule absolutely, the purecaste prosper, and the Calico survive. Barely. Hue, a young Calico, has unknowingly come into a power no Calico should possess, and he would certainly be killed for it should the Elite discover his secret. Luckily for Hue, he lives far from the reach of the Elite, and there is no chance that his secret ability to bear Essence will be exposed. Until, that is, he wanders outside the wards his mentor Gaunt Wheeling has set about their hidden village of Ethni and attracts the vile hellfur, who will risk any threat in their search to consume Essence, that magical substance used by the Elite and purecaste, but forbidden and useless to any Calico. As Hue flees Ethni to escape the hellfur, he sets about a chain of events that will strike an irreparable blow to his kind and shake the balance of power in Lineage to its core.
