He could not be sure if the form before him was a man or a beast because it had the characteristics of both. Chilling Tales beneath the China Berry Tree is a collection of scary stories as told by my grandmother to my cousins and me as we spent many summer days with her. The stories she told may not be entirely true, but she enjoyed telling them as much as we enjoyed hearing them. Part of growing up includes many innocent moments when one's mind can be drawn to another place and time where the supernatural is real. Granny's stories were told during those lazy days of summer. This book contains many of the stores that kept my cousins and me on the edge of our seats, and left us full of wonder and amazement. Experiencing summers in rural Alabama where I grew up was a blessing. Times were simpler then. People seemed not to be in such rush, and they enjoyed spending time with each other.
