What if Vampires really existed? What if they weren't the handsome moody teenagers of Hollywood but were in fact cold hearted killers? What would happen if such creatures appeared in the modern world? Devil / Deil is a vampire horror novel set in contemporary Britain with much of the action happening in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. Two police officers are dispatched to investigate the disappearance of a group of youths, electricity workers and a University archaeological team in the forests surrounding the abandoned village of Deil. During their investigations they discover some of the hidden dark history of the local area and stumble upon incidents that test their sanity before meeting up with a specialist army unit sent to control the situation. There are conflicts within the army unit as they struggle to deal with the spread of the vampires and to prevent them from escaping into the wider world. All the while political pressure is placed upon their commander to ensure they succeed at all costs in a disturbing end game.
