Fields made of glass is set in Kentucky alongside a cornfield wherein something ancient dwells. The story involves two interlocking narratives that take place more than twenty years apart. The first is the story of Chandler Urnwell, a transplant from out west struggling to adapt to Kentucky and his humiliating job as a birthday party clown. The other is the story of a family: Mach, the disturbed older brother, Rabbit, great-uncle and verbose storyteller, Eunice, the snow globe-carrying clueless sister, and Tick-Tock, the special needs brother to Mach and Eunice. The three constants in both stories are Sheriff Luz Vidrio, an Argentinean and US Army veteran, the cornfield, and the mysterious dark presence that lurks in the field.
