As the womanizing player matured and started to search for a female for a serious relationship, the dog starts to interfere and thwarts his plans of adding another individual to their already tight family of a man and his dog. He finally finds a woman who he feels he can share the rest of his life with, which leads to Derrick having to make a fatal choice between the woman he loves and his canine best friend.
