"Branches" is story #1 in "The Bethesda Wars". It is the first full length novel. Benji Rose is a normal guy living a normal life. He has an apartment, an ex wife and a son. He works for Child Safety Services investigating calls of neglect or abuse. Nothing out of the ordinary has ever happened to him--until a call comes in. A home invasion resulted in the death of the robber and the owner of the home. The police investigate, to find a terrified teenage girl shivering in the closet. Benji is called and the young lady begs him not to bring her to his office. It turns out this is not an ordinary young lady, and there is a special Compound in Bethesda which is very interested in making her a permanent resident. . But they are not alone in their interest in the girl. Another rival organization is introduced in "Branches": the WhiteShirts lead by their enigmatic leader Father Coburn will stop at nothing to get their hands on the girl. While they claim to be on the side of right, the death of one child is already on their hands. And Benjie Rose, this ordinary man, must protect this extraordinary girl...for it turns out he has his own reason to get involved, one that involves the life and death of all he holds dear: his branches. Branches is the first full length novel in "The Bethesda Wars" and it expands the world introduced in the earlier novellas. Whether the reader is new to the series or not, they will be gripped instantly in the world of Branches and The Bethesda Wars.
