A Haunting at Mackinac

1920—The Great War has wiped out many lives. A new breed of pleasure-seeking Americans are gearing up for a carefree decade of shorter skirts and illegal gin. Charlatan mediums are taking advantage of both the devastated and the exotic. But in the midst of these events is Alina, a quiet girl who has a rare ability. She can hear the spirits of people both living and dead. Her most heartfelt desire though is to be able to control this ability and not be bombarded by these thoughts everywhere she goes. With the help of two spirit mothers, a Native-American Medicine Man, her uncle and his new wife, and a very special young man, she may be able to learn to control her abilities and start out on a new adventure. But the Island has other ideas. The setting of hundreds of Native American legends, and visited by thousands every year, Mackinac Island is one of the most haunted places of this decade. Alina is compelled to help. But the evil that inhabits the island is centuries old and very powerful. Is it beyond her capabilities? And what secrets lie in the hidden caves beneath the island’s surface?

About the Author

Cindy Koch-Krol was born in the Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Detroit Michigan. But her life went uphill from there! She is a writer, artist and crafter living in Traverse City, Michigan with her Husband, Jeff and Personal Chef, Jake. Cindy enjoys the indoor sports of making quilts, knitting socks, and baking cookies. In the summertime she enjoys the outdoor sports of swimming, walking and basketry. She writes in front of her livingroom window looking out into her Japanese Garden and watching the wild life at her four bird feeders.
