Desmond Carmichael is an author of moderate success. To find his next muse, he has taken time off and is living in the vacation towns of rural Pennsylvania, affording him a certain degree of solitude and independence. However, as the beauty of the fall fades, he finds himself alone in the harsh cold of the winter, in the now deserted summer homes along the Delaware River. Each night he’s haunted by an eerie light that beckons to him from a small island just across the water. How is it that such a simple light could feel so sinister?
