GHOST - A Book Of ODD STRANGE SPINE-TINGLING HAIR-RAISING TALES Look around you! Are we really alone in our existence, or are the things we see only the way we perceive them to be? Maybe they are only figments of our imagination...Oh yes, imagination! One of the greatest gifts we have as human beings. It allows us to be whatever we want, play out scenes and acts in our minds, or travel to far away planets. Why some scientists even believe that imagination is the one thing that separates mankind from the lower animals! But...what is it really? It must be very powerful because it is the category where people always place ghost, a figment of our imagination, nothing more, nothing less. Now lets see... if I see a Ghost do I really want to tell people I see a Ghost? Their going to tell me that it was a figment of my imagination, and then they are going to suggest that it was a dream, or ask me what I was smoking or drinking. But what if you see the Ghost with me, and we are with a dozen people at the time? Well, then it becomes mass hysteria, and our credibility is brought under question. Beep...you loose either way. It is totally acceptable to tell Ghost stories though. Almost everyone has one. They are neat little items that are told around a campfire, or at late night slumber parties. Lately they have become the focus of many television programs, and very popular books. People love to read Ghost stories, hear them, or tell them ...just remember, dont actually say youve seen a Ghost! (See Ghost Rule Number: 1). Anyway, whatever the case may be, I personally like to tell them, and have found over the years that they thrill me to death. I am not out to prove the existence of Ghost.... I think that is something that each one of us does for ourselves, I am simply telling some of the stories that I have heard over the years and that have stayed with me.
From the Publisher
Editor Kristina O'Donnelly: "Well written, thought-provoking, plenty chills and thrills. When you put this book down, you will ask: what's next? We are looking forward to publishing more of Ms. Dove's works!" Fellow editor Angelina Anton, Editorial Director of Minerva Press comment: "I read this submission from Penny Dove with interest, and I must say that I was impressed by what I saw; Ghost is a thrilling collection which really grasps and stretches the reader's imagination. The author has drawn upon and utilized the short story genre well. She succeeds in creating and maintaining a vivid picture of human experience which, while being an adventure of the imagination, remains convincing to the reader. In each piece, the reader is drawn into the action as it unfolds and feels involved. My particular favorite is "The Sissing Hag" where the author skillfully builds up the tension and terrifying suspense so that the reader is gripped right up to the end. This is highly readable work, and the different stories sit well together as a collection."
