Beau-sejour Palace, PortugalBuilt in 1849, the Beau-sejour Palace in Lisbon, Portugal was once home to António Guimarães, the Baron of Glória. He bought then remodeled it, adorning it with stunning azujelos tiles and Surrounding the structure was a beautiful French formal garden.After the Baron’s death, the palace was passed down to his nephew and niece. It thrived from various artistic additions and investments given by several heirs of the late barons. But by the 1930s, the palace had begun a steady decline. Many of the items inside were sold off in auctions and It soon came under the ownership of the Marist Brothers who transformed it into a college. By the 80s, the palace was bought by the municipal council of Lisbon. 4. Chateau Miranda, BelgiumOn the hills of Celles, inside the province of Namur, Belgium sits an old, abandoned Chateau that’s been shrouded in mystery for a long time. It was originally built in 1866 for the Liedekerke-De Beaufort Family. They lived there until World War II with a portion of the Battle of the Bulge taking place on the property. By the 50s, it was dubbed as Chateau de Noisy because it was used as an orphanage and holiday camp for sickly children. 3. Tower of London, EnglandThe Tower of London in England is one of the most visited tourist spots in the country. But for many Londoners, the Tower, as it’s affectionately called, inspires both awe and fear. Created in the 1070s, the Tower was built by William the Conqueror, as a sign of power over the defeated Londoners. Nothing of its kind had ever existed before and it took more than 20 years for the structure to be finished. Over the years, various leaders added to the structure, including the defensive curtain wall as well as additional towers. 2. Leap Castle, IrelandLocated in Coolderry, Ireland, the Leap Castle is known in the country as home to severel murders and bloody rampages. It’s unclear when exactly it was built. Some believe it was created in the 12th Century, others say it was until the 15th Century that it was built. Whatever the case, It’s very old and it was constructed over the the top of Druid ruins.The name Leap Castle can be traced back to the O’Bannons – an affluent clan hailing from the County Tipperary. Legend has it that even before the castle was built, two O’Bannon brothers challenged each other to leap from a rock where the castle was to be built. 1. Moosham Castle, AustriaFound near Salzburg, Austria, Moosham Castle was first registered in a deed in 1191. It was built by the Prince Bishops of Salzburg and served as home to them for decades.Moosham gained its haunted reputation thanks to its violent past. It was the site of more than 100 witch killings. For a time, mass hysteria crept in the United States and all over Europe. The scene was so bad that the coroner had to scrape parts of the victim remains from the furniture, wall, and ceiling.#2 The Mongolian Death WormLocated in the southern part of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia is said to hide a mysterious creature known in the West as the Mongolian Death Worm. Stories of the death worm date back to the early 1920’s. It was first mentioned in the West in a book called, On the Trail of Ancient Man, by paleontologist, Roy Chapman Andrews. The real-life Indiana Jones inspiration said he heard stories of the monster at a gathering with Mongolian officials. The Bloody BendersFrom 1871 to 1873, Labette County in Kansas was home to a family called the Benders. John Bender Sr., or “Pa Bender” was around 60 years old at the time. He was of German descent and spoke little English, if any at all. His wife, Elvira was 55 and was known as the “she-devil” by her neighbors because She was very cold and unfriendly. Their 25 year old son, John Jr., was considered handsome with his auburn hair. He spoke English fluently but with a German accent, but neighbors considered him a “half-wit” since he would often be seen laughing all by himself. 3. The Wessons Born August 22, 1946, Marcus Wesson, was the eldest of four children. He grew up in a dysfunctional household with his mother being a religious fanatic and his dad an abusive alcoholic. He joined the Army after leaving high school and was stationed in Europe for some time. After returning, Wesson started living together with a married woman named, Rosemary Maytorena and her children, in San Jose, California. 2. The Briley BrothersIt was 1979 when brothers, Linwood, James Jr., and Anthony Briley terrorized the town of Richmond, Virginia when they went on a random killing spree for seven months. Growing up, the boys were known to always be willing to lend a helping hand and were polite and helpful in their community. However, their classmates had a a bit of a different opinion because In school, they were bullies. They didn’t even care when authority figures punished them. The only person the boys feared seemed to be their father, James Sr. But by the time they had become teenagers, their parents separated amicably and even James Sr. began fearing his children. He realized Linwood, the eldest, was having a huge influence on the boys and James Sr., began locking his doors at night with a deadbolt in fear of what they might do. 1. The Tarverdiyeva FamilyDubbed as the “Gang of Amazons,” the Tarverdiyeva family from the North Caucasian Federal District in Russia is considered to be one of the most baffling and murderous serial killer families in modern times. Captured in 2013, the family is composed of the father, Roman Podkopaev who was (35), his 46 year old wife, Inessa Inessa’s 25 year old daughter from her first marriage, Viktoria and Inessa and Roman’s daughter, Anastasiya who was (13). Other accomplices included Sergei Sinelnik, Roman’s police officer brother-in-law and his wife, Anastasiya. The family came from a well-to do background but it seems this didn’t help in quenching their lust for blood. As a cover for their crimes, the family would go under the pretense of conducting out of town camping trips. Their first victim was, Mikhail Zlydnev, and his wife on February 17, 2008. Mikhail was the head of the State Drug Control Service. The couple was shot inside their homes and then stabbed multiple times with a knife. Several items in their home were taken and Months later, another couple was shot on a highway. So there were 4 Scary & Mysterious FamiliesSerial killer families are rare but they do exist. It yelped several times before flying out of through the chimney, The Jersey Devil had been born. In other accounts, the creature attacked his mother and all the people present during its awakening. Ever Since then, it’s said to haunt the thick forests of the Pine Barrens.4. Skunk ApeConsidered an aggressive version of Bigfoot, the Skunk Ape is a humanoid creature said to inhabit the swampy areas of Florida, Arkansas and North Carolina. The reason for the name is because it looks like a large ape creature, with a distinctive foul odor. Nobody knows for sure when the term Skunk Ape was first used, but it’s believed to have originated in a highly publicized sighting in 1957 by a pair of hunters who said the creature invaded their camp. The 60s and 70s paved the way for more sightings, often occurring in the Florida Everglades. 3. ChupacabraCalled the “goatsucker,” El Chupacabra or simply “Chupacabra,” is a famous cryptid known to many people today. It’s said to attack various livestock including goats, chickens and other farm animals. Chupacabras are widely reported to roam all over the Americas but notably around Mexico, Puerto Rico and much of the southwestern portion of the United States. The first reported attack and sighting of the Chupacabra occurred in Puerto Rico in 1995 when Eight sheep were found dead. All of them had puncture wounds on their chest and had been drained of their blood. 2. BigfootOne of the most famous and renowned cryptids in the world, the Bigfoot is said to roam forested areas in North America, particularly, British Columbia and Washington State. Despite being largely reported in North America, various “Bigfoot” sightings or similar large, hominid creatures have been reported in various countries all over the world. Bigfoot is described as being a large, ape-like creature that walks upright and is covered with hair. It got it’s name because it leaves behind large footprints. 1. MothmanPoint Pleasant, West Virginia is known for something very unusual. In their town center stands a gleaming 12-foot statue. Cast in stunning silver metal, it shows a large, man-moth creature known appropriately as the Mothman. Although reports and sightings of Mothman are plentiful, the majority of the initial reports of the creature come from a specific area near the old West Virginia Ordnance Works. He wrote down the name “Lyle Stevik” and paid for a single night’s stay but told the receptionist that he might stay for “a few more days.” He brought no luggage with him, in fact the only thing he had in hand was a toothbrush and toothpaste.Nothing seemed that unusual with Lyle until a few days later on September 17, when he was found dead inside his hotel room. Police ruled his death a suicide. He was found inside the hotel closet having hanged himself by the neck using his belt and the clothes railing. Morgan NickOn June 9, 1995, 6-year old Morgan Nick went to a Little League Baseball Game with her mom in Alma, Arkansas. At around 10:30 PM, the girl went out with two friends to capture lightning bugs. Even though her mother was hesitant, she eventually agreed to let her go. After they were done, her two friends saw Morgan emptying sand from her shoes, standing close to her mother’s car. As she was putting her shoes back on, her friends saw a “creepy man” talking to Morgan. Get ready for scary mysteries twisted 2s #1 Robert Pickton Born in 1949, little is known about what Robert Pickton did prior to his life as a pig farmer and eventual serial killer. All we know is that his family owned and ran a pig farm in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia that spanned three generations. Robert and his siblings, David and Linda ran the farm. One of the workers Bill Hiscox noted the farm itself was a “creepy-looking place.” There were only few pigs around and it was constantly patrolled by a large 600-lb. boar that chased and bit intruders. As for Pickton, he was described as “difficult to have a conversation with” and often exhibited bizarre behavior. 2. Finnish UFO SightingsRecently, the Finnish government made strides with the UFO community after the air force published a collection of military UFO sightings over Finnish skies. Covering the years between1933 and1979, it contained hundreds of official UFO military documents released for researchers. Many of the reports are extremely strange and few easily stand out. For instance, from May to December of 1946, almost 2000 “ghost rockets” were seen by Finnish citizens. Skeptics say they were meteors, attributing them to the Perseid meteor shower, except most sightings didn’t occur during the meteor shower peak. The students, with just one teacher and bus driver to supervise, started hiking from Andrews Bald to Clingman’s Dome and then back again along the Forney Ridge Trail.During the hike, the students separated into several smaller groups, depending on their pace. Trenny was seen with several sections of her classmates at different times throughout the day. But The last time anybody saw her was at 3:00 PM, around Clingman’s Dome when she left the path after spotting something. She was never seen again. 4. Disappearance of Gary MathiasOn the night of February 24, 1978, Gary Mathias and his four friends: Jackie Huett, Ted Weiher, Jack Madruga, and William Sterling, all from Yuba, California, headed to California State University in Chico to watch a basketball game. All five men suffered from mild mental or psychiatric issues but none of these prevented them from functioning properly in society. Gary, in particular, was taking medication for schizophrenia after serving in the military having been stationed in Germany. 3. Patricia MeehanPatricia Meehan was a 37-year old who spent most her life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she grew up and studied for a career in daycare. By 1985, she decided to make a change and moved to Bozeman, Montana, pursuing work as a ranch hand because of her love for animals.On April 20, 1989, Patricia was seen alive and well by her landlord. However, he felt something was “off” with her, saying she seemed “hyper.” By evening time, around 8:15 PM, a woman named Peggy Beuller and her father were driving on the Montana Highways 200 in Circle, Montana. It was there that They noticed a car driving on the wrong side of the road. Peggy’s car swerved away to avoid a collision but the car behind them wasn’t so lucky. 2. Cowden FamilyDuring the Labor Day weekend of 1974, the Cowden’s arrived at the Rogue River National Forest Camp Ground in Oregon and started setting camp. On September 2nd, 28 year old Richard Cowden and his 5 year old son David were seen inside a general store at around 9:00 AM. They bought milk and were seen leaving on foot towards their campsite where Belinda Cowden and her 4 month old daughter Melissawere staying. That evening, the family arranged to have dinner at Belinda’s mother since she lived close to the grounds. When the family didn’t arrive, the mother decided to head to the campsite instead. Once there, she couldn’t find anyone but the family’s belongings were still right there1. Jared NegreteOn July 19, 1991, 12-year old, Jared Negrete went on a camping trip with his scout troop that consisted of 14 other boys. Jared was 5 foot 2 inches tall and slightly overweight at 150 pounds. Hailing from Perth, the 33-year old killer was tried and hung for committing 22 violent crimes, 8 of which were cold blooded murders. Dubbed as “The Night Caller,” he was born on February 25, 1931 in Victoria Park. The subject of a violent childhood, he was the oldest child and the only boy born to an alcoholic father who didn’t want him#2 Stella WilliamsonAt the age of 76, Stella Williamson of Gallitzin, Pennsylvania died of natural causes on August 25, 1980 and it was a tough time for the few friends she had. Guy Schrack, lived in her home as a border, moving in from across the street after his own wife died. After burying his friend, Guy went back to their home and tried to put Stellas things in order.
