Episode 490 – Slaves to the Oral Existence
Released on 01/03/2025
Movies discussed: Smile 2, Y2K, All You Need is Death, Handjob Cabin Trailer (short)

Sorry about the long delay over the holidays, but now we have a new recording just for you! This time around Smile 2 has us grinning, Y2k is so almost a thing, and All You Need Is Death has a great premise that someone should make a movie out of sometime. (Oh, and do listen for the post-outro stinger this time — it’s a whole other thing.)
Also here’s a screenshot of the flaming child/person/scarecrow from the beginning of Smile 2 that Matt was asking about. If you have any idea of that the hell that is supposed to be, send us an email and let us know.

Bonus Twin Cities Con episode!
Released on 11/13/2024
Hey hot doggies! Josh and Matt were on a couple panels at the Twin Cities Con last weekend and you can listen to one of them now!
Friday night’s panel was called, “Are You There God? It’s Me Pazuzu.” Josh and Matt are joined by our friends Taylor and Maegge and the four discuss the recent resurgence of religious horror as well as the subgenre’s roots and how our own experiences shaped our perception of these films. Our audience also asked us some great questions and were a delight to meet and chat with as well. Mad thanks to everyone who attended and to those of you who are giving our podcast a listen.

Sorry for the extra week in there. We’re back to talk about The Lighthouse, a film so exquisitely, gleefully weird that we can hardly process it. And then Rabid Grannies, equally bizarre but on other side of the art/schlock continuum. Next to those two, Humane can’t help but look a little tame.
